Goal: The physical spaces, technologies and resources that support our work are critical to ensuring our people thrive and succeed and that we meet Florida’s growing dental workforce needs. Thus, we must optimize our infrastructure, technologies and fiscal management to advance our mission.
Objective 1
Expand and renovate existing spaces throughout the UFCD enterprise to facilitate efficiency, growth and collaboration in support of our mission.
Rationale: Our physical infrastructure supports all aspects of our mission and impacts the professional quality of life for the UFCD community. Overcoming the limitations imposed by our existing infrastructure will enhance efficiency and productivity, facilitate growth in key areas, and foster interaction and collaboration both inside and outside the college.
Implementation Strategies
a. Continue planning an addition to the dental science building and renovations of existing facilities in Gainesville and throughout the state.
b. Gather stakeholder feedback to ensure new and renovated infrastructure optimizes workflow and facilitates future adaptations to new technologies.
c. Ensure that built environments promote efficiency and flexibility, and enhance collaboration and community for our workforce and learners.
Objective 2
Invest in resources and talent necessary to fully leverage technology to fuel innovation and advance
our mission.
Rationale: Technology is advancing at unprecedented rates and holds promise to transform dental education, research, patient care and service. Thus, we need to ensure access to hardware, software and high-quality data, as well as people with the skills and expertise to optimize use of these resources.
Implementation Strategies
a. Enhance processes to monitor and prioritize technology needs through inventory analysis and stakeholder input.
b. Recruit and train personnel to enhance our technology and informatics capabilities across all aspects of our mission.
c. Promote and monitor continuous education and training of the UFCD community to implement new technologies and optimize informatics workflows.
Objective 3
Expand and enhance funding sources, optimize financial performance and maintain appropriate
reserves to ensure financial health.
Rationale: UFCD has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to fiscal responsibility, allowing us to excel in education, research, patient care and service. Enhancing our financial health by increasing revenues and becoming more efficient in our resource utilization are critical strategies for the future.
Implementation Strategies
a. Increase revenues by optimizing existing programs and pursuing new funding sources and novel investment strategies.
b. Increase financial performance through operational efficiencies, cost-containment, and mission-centered resource allocation that considers return on investment and strategic priorities.
c. Develop a multi-year capital campaign to increase fundraising efforts to meet strategic goals.
